Cherie Marcel
Writer

I write women-centric dramedies, mostly in the form of screenplay, from a little white shed surrounded by chickens. I aim to write complicated characters who challenge our inner compass, blurring the lines between villain and hero, both on the page and in ourselves.

I've found that, other than the experience of living itself, nothing contributes more to my success as a writer than the community of writers I surround myself with. Providing and receiving feedback, leaning on and uplifting—there's no tool more powerful than that.

Some of my strengths as a writer include:
-
dialogue
-
writing women and children
-
succinct descriptions
-
developing character arcs
-
screenplay plotting and formatting
-
book plotting and formatting
-
research skills
-
avoiding tropes and clichés
-
consistency and tenacity

When not writing, I pour my creative energy into home and garden projects, surrounded by a potluck of pets.
